Introducing PSP to Orchard Farm School District

Marianne Doll, Director of Special Services, which includes health services, and Bethany Brown who works with younger children, met with DHSS Oral Health Consultant, Diann Bomkamp, RDH to determine what steps are necessary to get Orchard Farm School District involved in the Preventive Services Program. Betsy Van Scoyk, RN, and Pam Eidman are the district nurses.  Orchard Farm School District is in St. Charles, Missouri.

Oral Health Team Gets Ready for the School Year

The Oral Health Team met at the Department of Health and Senior Services Office on Friday August 10th to prepare for the upcoming school year.  Over 90 schools, head starts, community health centers and health departments are preparing to participate in this year's FLUORIDE VARNISH PROGRAM, also known as the PREVENTIVE SERVICES PROGRAM (PSP).

The PSP is a four pronged approach to oral health initiated at the community level.  PSP provides a community with 1) surveillance, 2) education, 3) Fluoride Varnish and 4) referral for dental care.
